Remote control made easier for people working from home

Microsoft Teams is a product whose adoption skyrocketed as the world struggled to deal with the health crisis and employees started working from home, so Microsoft itself has also accelerated the development of new features that could help everyone with their remote tasks.

And now Microsoft has found just the perfect way to make remote working easier, so today it’s announcing TeamViewer integration right in Microsoft Teams.

“The TeamViewer integration with Microsoft Teams extends the platform with remote device control and augmented reality-based remote support capabilities. Product developers or technical support representatives can now leverage instant remote access to devices, live screen sharing, and augmented reality-based visual support. With virtual object tagging, they show team members, customers, or partners how to troubleshoot and resolve any problem quickly and efficiently,” TeamViewer announced.

More specifically, thanks to the new integration, users are able to connect remotely to certain computers right from Microsoft Teams, and thanks to AR-based support, they can control systems just like they’d be in the front of the computer.

Cross-platform support

The integration also allows users to track TeamViewer sessions in one dashboard, but also to request TeamViewer connections via the chatbot. Theoretically, what you need to do to initiate a connection request is to just type @teamviewer in the chat box and include a message for the admin.

The TeamViewer integration in Microsoft Teams, however, isn’t available for everyone, as it requires a Corporate or Tensor license and a Pilot subscription.

TeamViewer says that cross-platform support is offered to users wherever they run Microsoft Teams, so basically, the new feature is available on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.

Companies that are interested in enabling TeamViewer integration must contact the parent company to customize their license and allow for the new feature to become available in their Teams clients.
