New Surface Pro model is just around the corner

We’ve known for a while Microsoft was working on a new Surface Pro model, and now it looks like its launch is approaching fast.

The Surface Pro 8 has recently passed through the FFC, with a report revealing the device would use Wi-Fi 6, as per the official documents.

The Surface Pro 8 wouldn’t be too different in terms of design from the Surface Pro 7, as Microsoft will apparently focus more on under the hood upgrades rather than on the look of the device.

Huge bezels, hardware refresh

So in theory, what we’re going to get this year is a Surface Pro 7 with upgraded specs, and there’s the chance to new devices would come with Intel’s latest-generation chips and up to 32GB of RAM.

Furthermore, there’s a chance the top Surface Pro 8 comes with 1TB of SSD storage, which more or less makes sense given more storage is what customers are looking

This is an approach that could actually disappoint many people out there. The Surface Pro is often considered the most popular Surface model out there, so a more modern design with smaller bezels is something customers have been waiting for already. However, it looks like the software giant actually wants to buy more time for a more dramatic overhaul of the Surface lineup, which means only the Surface Pro 9 could bring smaller bezels and an increased screen estate.

For the time being, however, we’ll have to stick with a hardware refresh, and people familiar with the matter said the unveiling could happen as soon as this month. The Surface Pro 8 is likely to be introduced alongside the Surface Laptop 4, which in its turn would also receive mostly hardware upgrades, with the design to be pretty similar to the one of its predecessor.
