Microsoft will announce the new-generation Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models on Wednesday as part of a dedicated hardware event.

A set of press photos, however, got leaked earlier today, providing us with an early look at the two models that are expected to see daylight on October 2.

The press images, which are actually part of the marketing materials that the company will use to promote the Surface Pro 7 and the Surface Laptop 3, don’t reveal much about these two devices.

Pictured from the rear, the Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3 don’t seem to come with too many changes in terms of design, albeit substantial upgrades are indeed expected.

Sales starting later this month

For example, a report that made the rounds a few days ago indicated that Surface Pro 7 could come with two different versions, one of which would stick with the existing design of the device. The second one would embrace a more dramatic overhaul with smaller bezels. Both would include major improvements under the hood, obviously with the latest-generation hardware, and possibly RAM and storage upgrades.

As far as the Surface Laptop 3 is concerned, the biggest change this year is the addition of a 15-inch model. The larger laptop could run on an AMD chip, a first for Microsoft’s Surface device lineup.

USB-C would become a more common feature across the Surface family, and new colors are expected as well, according to recent findings.

Needless to say, none of the details here are confirmed by the leaked press photos, but on the other hand, they do confirm that upgrades for Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are indeed prepared.

Microsoft will make the full announcements on October 2, following by the sale kickoff due to happen later this month.
