Microsoft also cancelling pre-orders for this configuration

The top-of-the-range Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 with an AMD chip and 32 GB RAM is no longer available for purchase from the Microsoft Store, and at least one customer got their pre-order cancelled this week.

Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop 3 at the company’s hardware event on October 2, and one of the biggest announcements was the debut of a 15-inch version powered by AMD chips.

On Microsoft’s website, the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 was available with 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB RAM, all of them powered by the same custom chip developed by AMD.

32 GB version with Intel chip sold to businesses

But as reported by WindowsCentral, not only that the 32 GB version of the Surface Laptop 3 has gone missing, but the Redmond-based software firm is also cancelling pre-orders for those who wanted to buy the device – for context, the Surface Laptop 3 isn’t yet available for purchase, as Microsoft is only taking pre-orders for now.

With the Surface Laptop 3 with 32 GB RAM nowhere to be seen and Microsoft cancelling pre-orders, we can only assume that the company pulled this version, possibly to launch it at a later time, as the company seems to suggest in emails sent to customers.

“We're sorry to inform you that we must cancel your purchase; our web page accidentally went live before we intended it to! We were not ready to accept pre-orders for Surface Laptop 3 yet,” these emails read as per the cited source.

For now, Microsoft has remained completely tight-lipped on whether the 32 GB Surface Laptop 3 could become available for purchase and, more important, when this is supposed to happen.

On the other hand, Microsoft is currently selling a 32 GB version of the Surface Laptop 3, but this time with an Intel chip, in its business store. This device is only available for businesses and it’s unlikely to ever be up for grabs for consumers.
