Version 1903 cumulative update comes without known issues

The latest cumulative updates for Windows 10 are said to provide an almost flawless experience on the majority of devices, and truth be told, I’m only seeing isolated reports of failed installs and post-installation issues so far.

Microsoft’s new cumulative updates were published on the October 8 Patch Tuesday for all Windows 10 versions. For consumer versions of Windows 10 (Home and Pro SKUs), the available cumulative updates are the following:

Windows 10 version 1903: KB4517389 (OS Build 18362.418) Windows 10 version 1809: KB4519338 (OS Build 17763.805) Windows 10 version 1803: KB4520008 (OS Build 17134.1069)

And judging from Microsoft’s official changelogs, there’s not much to be worried about when installing these cumulative updates.

No new known issues in these updates

First and foremost, Windows 10 version 1903 users should know that KB4517389 comes without any known issues. This update resolves the printing bugs that were introduced by previous patches, and also includes the typical security fixes delivered every Patch Tuesday.

I’m hearing that some users still experience Start menu issues after installing KB4517389, but this is a bug that’s been experienced for several cumulative updates, so it’s unlikely it’s caused by this latest release.

In the case of Windows 10 version 1809, cumulative update KB4519338 comes with four known issues, but none of them is specific to this update, as they’ve all been there in the previous releases too. In other words, if your device hasn’t been hit by a bug after installing the previous cumulative updates, there’s a chance things go smoothly when installing KB4519338 as well.

The same for Windows 10 version 1803 cumulative update KB4520008 as well, as this one comes without any new known issues, but only with already acknowledged bugs.

At the time of writing this article, I see only few reports of problems caused by the latest round of cumulative updates, so presumably Microsoft has managed to fine-tune the experience users get after updating their devices and reduce the likelihood of errors. The only issue that needs to be resolved, and which Microsoft is yet to acknowledge, breaks down the Start menu for some.
