The experience with Xbox Live has left a lot to be desired lately, as playing games – including those that are digitally purchased and don’t include a cloud component – has been quite an adventure lately.

The outages that have become more widespread throughout the weekend made the whole thing quite a struggle for gamers out there, with Microsoft rapidly stepping in and acknowledging the problems.

The company first admitted there was something going on with Xbox games on May 7.

“We're aware that some users are unable to purchase & launch games or start Cloud Gaming sessions. Our teams are investigating. Please keep an eye here and on our status page for updates,” it said.

The work on fixes continues

A few hours later, the company confirmed the fixes were rolling out to users.

“Players may be seeing improvement when purchasing & launching games & Cloud Gaming sessions. We are working on full resolution. If you still see issues, rebooting your console may help. Players should no longer be seeing issues when it comes to purchases, launching games, or joining Cloud Gaming sessions. Thanks for being patient. Happy gaming!” it said in two separate tweets a little bit later.

Several users, however, complained of continued problems despite Microsoft’s fixes. And as it turns out, they’re not wrong, as the software giant says it would still take a few more days to completely resolve the outages that have caused so many problems lately. Of course, a specific ETA isn’t available just yet, but Microsoft is still working on fixing the outages.

“We’ve seen significant improvement to the issue that has prevented some users from purchasing and launching games. We expect full mitigation in the coming days with the roll out of a new update,” the company explained in a May 9 tweet.
