Best Buy announces major discount for the Surface Duo

Microsoft’s Surface Duo is down to the lowest price since launch, as the base version with 128GB is now available for just $949.

This means the device gets a $450 discount, with Best Buy also offering a similar price cut for the 256GB version, which typically costs $1,499 but is now available for just $1,049.

This is without a doubt quite an offer Surface fans can’t refuse, and the $450 price cut makes the Surface Duo one of the most affordable Android flagships currently out there.

International launch

What’s important to know is that this discount is only available in the United States, but of course, this isn’t by any means a surprise since the device isn’t sold anywhere else.

The U.S. continues to be Duo’s exclusive market, though Microsoft is indeed expected to launch its dual-screen Android smartphone in Europe as soon as this spring.

“Since introducing Surface Duo in August 2020, people have asked when we would make this product available outside of the US. We’re pleased to share that in early 2021, we’ll be offering Surface Duo in Canada, United Kingdom, France and Germany. We’re excited to share more information at the beginning of 2021, so stay tuned for more,” Microsoft said in December 2020.

While no specifics were shared at that point, some European retailers have already listed the Surface Duo, so it’s now believed the launch on the Old Continent is just around the corner.

Of course, the Redmond-based software giant hasn’t shared any information in this regard, and as far as the company is concerned, the Surface Duo is coming at some point this year in Europe and that’s pretty much all. A second-generation Duo is also expected rather sooner than later, but of course, it’s too early to discuss such a new release at this moment.
