Microsoft migrates from software to softwear

Microsoft has brought Windows 95 back in the spotlight, but this time, the announcement that the company made has little in common with software and a lot more with softwear.

Because yes, after introducing the Xbox Onesie, the Redmond-based technology giant keeps investing in fashion, and today it’s launching a Windows 95 sweater.

“Introducing the latest #Windows95 custom "softwear."😉 Wish you could rock the #WindowsUglySweater?” Microsoft announced in a tweet today.

And I’m with Microsoft on this one. This is one ugly sweater, but I think it’s more of a collectible, so the looks aren’t that important for nostalgic users who struggled with the ancient Windows version.

Not for sale

On the other hand, what’s important to know is that Microsoft isn’t selling these. Instead, the company is offering them to company fans on Twitter, so you need to click here and send the Windows team a very convincing message to receive the Windows 95 sweater.

Of course, there’s always the chance that given the excitement around the ugly sweater Microsoft actually begins selling it, but it’s all just a hope for now. The Xbox Onesie, for example, was announced as an item that you can purchase nearly two years after it made the rounds the first time, so it remains to be seen if the softwear giant would have a change of mind over the Windows 95 sweater too.

By the looks of things, the official announcement of the sweater was received with much enthusiasm by the Windows community, as the tweet has already received more than 2,500 replies, 1,800 retweets, and approximately 7,000 likes. I can’t imagine how many DMs the company got after requesting interested users to reach out to the Windows team for a sweater.

And I’m pretty sure most of them come from people who are more than 30 years old.
