Yet another update is available in the store

Microsoft's Windows as a Service strategy for Windows 10 has been going flawlessly until now, and lots of OS and app updates have already been released in the 20+ days on the market, so it shouldn't be a big surprise that a new version of Mail app is now in the store.

Redmond has just rolled out a new update for the Mail and Calendar apps, so in case you're already on Windows 10, make sure you have a look in the store to get it as soon as possible.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft hasn't provided us with a change log for this new version, and keeping release information secret appears to become a common practice at the software giant, so it's hard to tell exactly what is new in this build.

And yet, it's probably safe to assume that version 17.6118.420001 brings bug fixes and performance improvements and given the fact that no big changes can be seen when launching the app, this is most likely true.

The revamped apps

Both the Mail and the Calendar apps have been revamped in Windows 10, so they come with a fresh UI and new features, but they're still far from replacing desktop apps in terms of functionality. The Mail client, for instance, lacks a number of features as compared to traditional desktop clients and sometimes has a delay in letting you know that a new email arrived in your inbox.

In other words, it's good to have a mail client pre-installed in Windows, but there's still plenty of room for improvements, so Microsoft has a lot of work to do to make this one a powerful rival for Mozilla Thunderbird, for instance.

In the meantime, everyone is recommended to get the update as soon as possible, so launch the store or download Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 manually to see what it brings new.
