Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 preview build in the Windows Insider program, with the Dev channel now allowed to try out a series of new features and changes that could one day make their way to the production builds of the OS as well.

Windows 11 build 25276 comes with new tools for developers as well, including tools to capture live kernel memory dumps in Task Manager.

“We are introducing a set of new developer-focused features in Task Manager to aid the collection of live kernel memory dumps (LKDs). This is in addition to the existing “Memory dump” for user mode processes. The goal of kernel live dump is to gather data to troubleshoot an abnormal situation but allow the OS to continue operation. This reduces downtime when compared to a bug check for “non-fatal” but high-impact failures and hangs. Click here for more info on live kernel dumps,” the software giant explains.

More rounded corners for Start menu search

There’s now a new option under the Details tab, with users allowed to right-click on the System process to access a new setting called “Create live memory dump file.”

Windows 11 build 25276 also comes with other more minor refinements, including updated dialogs that align with the new look of Windows 11, a more polished search box design in the Start menu (now using more rounded corners), as well as with plenty of fixes, for the taskbar and the system tray, search on the taskbar, File Explorer, and so on.

Very important to know is that this new Windows 11 preview build is shipped only to the Dev channel, and as Microsoft warns on every occasion, the features that are being tested here could never make their way to production builds.
