Microsoft has recently released a new preview build of users in the Dev channel of the Windows Insider program, though the focus has been on bug fixes and general polishing rather than on new features.

In other words, there are no new features in Windows 10 build 22526, though Microsoft says it has also started experimenting with a change that displays Alt + Tab as windows rather than on full screen. This tweak is only live for a small number of insiders, so not everybody sees it.

At the same time, Microsoft says it has added support for wideband speech specifically aimed at Apple AirPods (AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max), with Windows 11 now offering improved audio quality for voice calls when using these devices.

Several known issues being worked on

Other than that, this new build is all about bug fixes, with Microsoft explaining that it also resolved additional problems in File Explorer. Previously, the file manager sometimes crashed unexpectedly for some users, so after installing build 22526, some potential causes of such glitches might finally be addressed once and for all.

“Did some work to help address an issue where if you’d used search in File Explorer, and then explorer.exe crashed, the next time you tried to search in File Explorer it wouldn’t work,” Microsoft explains.

As with most other preview builds, the new release also comes with a series of known issues, and Microsoft explains that it’s currently working on addressing a glitch that makes the Settings app to crash.

“We’re working on a fix for an issue impacting some Insiders, resulting in Settings crashing when trying to access the Installed Apps, Startup Apps, and Default Apps pages. If you are one of those impacted and need to uninstall an app, using winget should work,” it says.

Insiders in the Dev channel can download the new preview build from Windows Update right now.
