Update shipped to insiders running May 2019 Update

Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 May 2019 Update, or version 1903, but for the time being, this is available for download only for insiders.

Cumulative update KB4497935 is thus pushed via Windows Update to users enrolled in the Slow and Release Preview rings of the Insider program.

Beginning with the October 2018 Update (version 1809), Microsoft uses the Release Preview ring to test cumulative updates thoroughly before releasing them to production devices. The same approach continues to be used for the May 2019 Update, so there’s a chance KB4497935 would eventually make its way to all computers already updated to version 1903.

As for what’s new in Windows 10 cumulative update KB4497935, you can check out the changelog in the box after the jump for full information.

But worth highlighting is a fix for a bug causing Night light mode to be turned off during display mode changes. I previously experienced this issue during the Insider program, as well as a bug that blocked Night light from being enabled altogether.

Likely to launch for everyone soon

Furthermore, Microsoft says it has resolved some issues with Direct3D applications. The company explains the following:

“Addresses an issue that may prevent some Direct3D applications and games from entering full-screen mode if the display’s orientation has been changed from the default.”

Microsoft doesn’t provide any info on the known issues, but it does that installing the cumulative update should increase the OS build number to 18362.145. To check the version, click the Start menu and type winver.

Keep in mind that, at this point, the update is only offered to insiders, but depending on how testing goes, it should be released to production devices sometimes in the next couple of months. We’ll continue to monitor this update and let you know when it goes live for everyone.
