New build now available for Fast ring insiders

Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 version 1903 preview build for Fast ring insiders, and just as expected, there are no new features, but only bug fixes and other refinements.

Windows 10 version 1903, also known as the April 2019 Update or 19H1, is projected to be finalized as soon as the next month, so Microsoft focusing exclusively on resolving issues is something that makes sense.

For example, Windows 10 build 18346 addresses a taskbar bug that corrects the search box text which is sometimes displayed in black on a black background, as well as a Start menu problem that caused it to crash when using Narrator to navigate pinned folders.

Update to be ready next month

Like all the other previous builds, there are known issues as well, and one of the most important is that games with anti-cheat software could lead to a Green Screen of Death. Microsoft says it’s investigating this problem, and this is actually the reason the company hasn’t released a Windows 10 19H1 preview build to the Slow ring until now.

The Slow ring is still on Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update), but once Microsoft fixes this bug, a preview build of the April 2018 Update should be shipped as well.

Another known issue that you should have in mind concerns Creative X-Fi sound cards, which Microsoft says aren’t working correctly. “We are partnering with Creative to resolve the issue,” the software giant explains.

As per Microsoft’s typical schedule, Windows 10 April 2019 Update will be finalized next month, with the RTM build to be shipped to insiders first once it’s signed off. After thorough testing through all channels, the final version of the update will begin shipping to production devices in April, once again in waves to allow Microsoft to block deployment should any big issues be discovered.
