Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809), but this time the only ones getting it are insiders in the Slow and Release Preview ring.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4464455 is supposed to fix a number of bugs in the latest OS feature update, including the infamous Task Manager issue that causes incorrect details to be displayed under the Processes tab.

This was an issue that Microsoft actually acknowledged when Windows 10 October 2018 Update was still in testing phase as part of the Insider program, but which somehow made it to the production rings as well when the company released version 1809 to everyone on October 2.

Additionally, KB4464455 also resolves a number of problems with antivirus solutions on Windows 10 version 1809, as well as “issues with driver compatibility,” though no specifics were provided in this regard.

Rollout of version 1809 still on hold

Cumulative update KB4464455 increases the OS build number to 17763.104 and doesn’t bring any new features, as the focus is entirely on refining the performance before Microsoft resumes the global rollout to devices worldwide.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update was officially released on October 2, but Microsoft pulled it only a few days later after discovering that a bug caused file removal on some systems. Users complained that their data in libraries like Documents were erased during the upgrade, and Microsoft said that only a small number of machines were impacted.

Microsoft has already resolved this issue, and the October 2018 Update is currently available for insiders in the Slow and Release Preview rings. Users in the Fast ring have already been promoted to Skip Ahead builds previewing Windows 10 19H1.

There’s no ETA as to when the rollout of Windows 10 version 1809 would resume, but for the time being, Microsoft clearly takes its time to resolve bugs in the OS.
