Windows 10 April 2018 Update gets its third update

We’re only a few days away from this month’s Patch Tuesday cycle, but Microsoft didn’t want to wait any longer and released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

KB4338548 is the third such update for the April update, also known as Windows 10 version 1803, and as compared to its predecessors, it comes with just a single fix. As Microsoft explains in the official changelog:

“This update addresses an issue where the 2017 and 2018 versions of Intuit QuickBooks Desktop can't run in multi-user mode on Windows 10, version 1803 devices. The QuickBooks multi-user mode service fails to start with error “Windows could not start the QuickBooksDBXX service on Local Computer." and “Error 193: 0xc1”. “

Certainly, this isn’t a widespread bug that’s hitting a significant number of systems running Windows 10 April 2018 Update, and there are so many other issues out there that Microsoft needs to fix ASAP, but any fix that the company ships is clearly more than welcome.

Many bugs, few fixes

The experience with Windows 10 April 2018 Update has been rather buggy until now, with the number of complaints posted online increasing every day as more computers are upgraded. The software giant, on the other hand, has been pretty slow when it comes to shipping fixes, and living proof is the simple fact that cumulative update KB4338548 is only the third patch that lands in nearly a month on the market.

The Patch Tuesday rollout beginning on June 12 will include many more fixes and security improvements for Windows 10 April 2018 Update, but you’re recommended to install KB4338548 anyway.

The good news is that Microsoft isn’t aware of any issues hitting KB4338548, so no failed installs or other bugs should be experienced during deployment. There are no new cumulative updates available for the other Windows 10 versions on the market.
