Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 preview build to users in the Release Preview channel, therefore preparing for a new important release to correct more bugs and introduce new capabilities.

The new build, which is 19044.1806 (just type winver in the Start menu to see the build number on your device), is available via cumulative update KB5014666, and it can be downloaded today from Windows Update as long as your device is enrolled in the Release Preview channel of the Windows Insider program.

However, the new features that are available in this cumulative update aren’t necessarily of much interest for home users.

“We added IP address auditing for incoming Windows Remote Management (WinRM) connections in security event 4262 and WinRM event 91. This We fixed an issue that fails to log the source IP address and machine name for a remote PowerShell connection,” Microsoft explains.

“We added Server Message Block (SMB) redirector (RDR) specific public File System Control (FSCTL) code FSCTL_LMR_QUERY_INFO.”

More fixes in this new release

As far as the available fixes are concerned, the most notable change for home users concerns Cloud Clipboard, as Microsoft has resolved a bug that prevented syncing between devices after a period of inactivity.

There are more improvements that are specifically aimed at enterprises and IT pros.

“We fixed an issue that causes a domain controller to incorrectly write Key Distribution Center (KDC) event 21 in the System event log. This occurs when the KDC successfully processes a Kerberos Public Key Cryptography for Initial Authentication (PKINIT) authentication request with a self-signed certificate for key trust scenarios (Windows Hello for Business and Device Authentication),” Microsoft explains.

Keep in mind that this new cumulative update isn’t yet available for production devices, though all improvements should go live for non-insider computers when the testing is complete in just a few days.
