Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 Redstone 5 preview build for Windows insiders enrolled in the Fast ring as the company is nearing the stabilization phase of the update.

Windows 10 build 17730 comes with only a handful of new features, but on the other hand, there are many more general improvements and fixes, as the company prepares to enter the latest development stage.

With this build, the Your Phone app that was announced last week becomes available to insiders, allowing Android users to get access to photos stored on their mobile devices straight from Windows 10.

Your Phone app is now broadly available for all Fast ring users, but they must be running at least build 17723. Android 7.0 and newer are supported, and those living in China would get a dedicated version at some point in the future.

Faster and safer browsing

In addition, Microsoft introduces support for HTTP/2 and Cubic, which should help make the Internet experience faster and safer. The update experience in the Insider builds will also be tweaked to prepare for the public rollout:

“When you are asked to restart for new flights, you will now receive the same notifications and experience as what we plan to provide to our retail customers. Depending on your ring, you will be asked to schedule your restart for the first couple of days, then we will ask if we could automatically schedule restarts outside of your active hours. Your participation in this experience will help us understand rough edges to improve before we release to retail,” Dona Sarkar, chief of the Windows Insider program, explains.

There are also several other general improvements, as well as known issues, and you can find them all in the box after the jump. We’re still waiting for a Skip Ahead ring as part of the Redstone 6 early development stage, and the release could take place as soon as this week.
