New cumulative updates now up for grabs on Windows 10

The May 2018 Patch Tuesday rollout has just started and it brings cumulative updates for all Windows 10 versions, though it’s worth noting that home users need to be running the Creators Update or newer to get these.

This month’s cumulative updates are KB4103721 (1803), KB4103727 (1709), KB4103731 (1703), KB4103723 (1607), KB4103728 (1511), KB4103716 (RTM).

As it’s the case of every cumulative update that is published on Patch Tuesday, this month’s rollout includes both security and non-security improvements, though it goes without saying that the simple fact that vulnerabilities are addressed should be reason enough for everyone to install them ASAP.

Windows 10 cumulative updates bring systems fully up-to-date when you install the most recent release. In other words, if you install these updates today, your computer is fully patched and gets all the fixes that were launched in the previous months.

April 2018 Update gets first cumulative update

The May 2018 Patch Tuesday release also includes the very first cumulative update for Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

Also known as version 1803, this OS feature update is now available for download either manually via Windows Update or automatically if your computer is included in the first wave of systems getting it.

Microsoft releases the April 2018 Update in waves, so only some computers are getting it today, but the more bugs are resolved, the bigger the number of systems receiving the new OS version.

This first cumulative update for the April 2018 Update also includes fixes for some of the bugs reported by users who installed it manually since April 30. Check back soon to read an in-depth analysis of what’s being fixed with this cumulative update.

As usual, we’ll be keeping an eye out on reports pointing to failed installs, as in the past, deploying cumulative updates has been quite a challenge due to various bugs.
