14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has released a new batch of cumulative updates for older versions of Windows 10, and the Fall Creators Update (version 1709) is one of those getting a patch.
Windows 10 cumulative update KB4462932 increases the OS build number to 16299.755 and comes with a long changelog, which is all about fixes and refinements to existing features.
As usual, there are no new features in this cumulative update, but only quality improvements that are supposed to tune the experience with Windows 10.
While you can check out the full changelog in the box after the jump, there are several updates that need to be highlighted, including one for applications that may stop responding after installation. Microsoft doesn’t provide any specifics in this regard, but it says that cumulative update KB4462932 should prevent this issue from happening after patching.
Antivirus improvements
Also, this update resolves a compatibility issue with some antivirus solutions that may cause a number of applications based on .NET Framework to crash. Microsoft once again doesn’t provide details as to what antivirus products are being targeted.
“Addresses a race condition in temporary files and some antivirus scanners that causes .NET Framework applications to stop working. The error message is, "The process cannot access the file ,” the changelog reads.
And last but not least, there are improvements for Microsoft Edge aimed at issues introduced by the previous update released on the October 9 Patch Tuesday.
“Addresses an issue with a dialog box that may appear with a non-applicable message beginning with the words, “Hosted by...” when first starting Microsoft Edge. The dialog box only appears if you have turned on “Block only third-party cookies” in Microsoft Edge and applied certain language packs after installing the October 9, 2018 update,” the company says.
Windows 10 cumulative update KB4462932 is offered via Windows Update and you can also get it from the Microsoft Update Catalog. There are no reports of failed installs so far.
