Windows 10 April 2018 Update will officially become available for manual downloading on Monday and Microsoft is expected to also release a cumulative update including last-minute bug fixes and improvements collected in the last couple of weeks as part of the Insider program.

And in order to make sure that this release will go as planned, Microsoft recently published Windows 10 cumulative update KB4135051 for Windows insiders.

Somewhat odd is that the software giant hasn’t said what is included in this new cumulative update, but instead it shipped it to insiders in the Fast, Slow, and Release Preview rings. This means everyone already on the RTM build of the Windows 10 April Update, which is 17134, should get this update and receive these undisclosed fixes.

Insiders can download the update from Windows Update, just like a typical build or any other patch for Windows 10.

OS build number update

Since no changelog is available, the only noticeable difference is the OS build number, which after installing cumulative update KB4135051 is bumped to version 17134.5. To check the OS version, you need to press Win key + R and type winver in the opened dialog.

The first Patch Tuesday of the new April 2018 update will take place on May 8, and this is also the moment when Microsoft is expected to release cumulative updates for systems updated to this new OS feature update.

It remains to be seen how cumulative updates install on the April update given how troublesome they proved to be in the past, as they failed to install or caused problems after deployment for a significant number of users.

The Windows 10 April 2018 update comes with several new features, including Timeline, Focus Assist (renamed from Quiet Hours), Microsoft Edge updates, Near Share, and plenty of smaller changes here and there for improved OS experience.
