Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 19H2 preview build for users in the Slow ring.

With today’s update, the OS build number reaches 18362.10022, with the new release bringing all the improvements and fixes that Microsoft originally included in cumulative update KB4515384 for Windows 10 version 1903, as well as further polishing that is supposed to be part of the 19H2 release.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4515384 included new protections against speculative execution side-channel vulnerabilities for 32-bit versions of Windows, as well as fixes for a high CPU usage bug affecting the SearchUI.exe process belonging to Cortana. Furthermore, it brought all the security fixes that Microsoft published on Patch Tuesday for Windows 10.

Final stages ahead of public rollout

In addition to the new build, Microsoft also announced that it’s making pre-release Windows 10 feature updates available for IT administrators relying on Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) to ship updates to devices.

“This is the next step in our efforts to provide your organization with the ability to validate line-of-business (LOB) applications, business-critical functionality, and policies, as well as evaluate new business features, prior to an update's official release,” Microsoft says.

“Beginning with Windows 10, version 1909, we will aim to release pre-release builds to Configuration Manager on a monthly cadence. Beyond that release, we will aim to release these types of builds in line with the Windows Insider Program Slow Ring builds.”

Windows 10 19H2 should be finalized as soon as this month, while the public rollout should begin in October or November the latest. Microsoft hasn’t shared such specifics until now, but more information is likely to be announced in the coming weeks as we approach the launch date.

The company says it’s working to move insiders in the Slow ring to Windows 10 19H2 build 18363, most likely as a final step before the official rollout begins.
