New build shipped to insiders in the Fast ring

Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 preview build for insiders in the Fast ring, and the company has improved several major changes, including a new light theme.

The new light theme isn’t enabled by default, and you can find it under Settings > Personalization > Colors. It applies to the taskbar, Start menu, Action Center, touch keyboard, and other parts of the operating system.

“Ever since we introduced the ability to choose between light and dark in Windows 10, we’ve heard feedback asking for a truer separation between the two options. When you select Light under Settings > Personalization > Colors, the expectation is that the system color would be lighter too. And it didn’t do that before – the taskbar and many other things stayed dark,” Microsoft explains.

Windows 10 build 18282 also includes an updated wallpaper for the light theme, as well as snipping improvements, like an option to delay the snip.

Updated printing experience

Microsoft also brings a modern printing experience to this new build, with light theme support, new icons, and a refined interface that displays the full name of the printer without cutting it off in case it includes several words.

Windows Update is getting some improvements too, and beginning with this build, updates can be paused right from the main UI.

“Just like before, when Pause is enabled, some updates, like Windows Defender definition updates, will continue to be installed. In addition, Pause can be enabled for either a pre-defined number of days or until the specific day (day selector is available on Advanced options page),” Microsoft says.

As in every build, 18282 comes with several Narrator improvements, like a more consistent reading experience, read by sentence commands on a braille display, and further phonetic reading optimizations.

There are obviously several other improvements and also known issues, and you can check them out in full in the box after the jump.
