Microsoft Edge for iOS updated to version 42.10

Microsoft has already surrendered in the desktop browser war, but the company has no reason to give up on its mobile efforts, where Microsoft Edge is continuously improving on both Android and iOS.

The latest preview build of Microsoft Edge for iPhone comes with more subtle improvements that are supposed to improve the general experience with the app.

Microsoft Edge has thus reached version 42.10, and as Microsoft explains, this release comes with a new refresh button placed right in the main menu.

If you’re wondering why you need a refresh button here, we wonder the same thing too, especially because reloading pages this way would obviously take more time and wouldn’t necessarily be the most convenient thing to do on a mobile device.

Hello, Microsoft Rewards!

This update also includes information on your Microsoft Rewards account right in the Settings screen of the browser. As compared to the refresh button, this improvement is a bit more useful, as it shows the Microsoft Rewards points right within the app.

But once again, Microsoft Rewards is a feature that is limited only to specific regions, so it doesn’t make sense to be offered to all users of the browser.

Both new features are projected to become available for all Microsoft Edge users on iPhone in the coming weeks when a new stable build is ready.

In the meantime, Microsoft is also hard at work on finalizing its Chromium-based browser for Windows 10 and other desktop operating systems. Microsoft is projected to release an early preview build of this revamped flavor of Microsoft Edge in the first months of 2019, so it shouldn’t take too long before we are allowed to try it out.

As for the stable build, it’s most likely due in 2019, though Microsoft has until now avoided to provide any ETAs, as the browser remains work in progress.
