New builds are now available in the Beta channel

Microsoft has shipped a pair of new Windows 11 builds to the Beta channel, and as compared to the previous releases, the new ones come with several new features.

The Redmond-based software giant is sticking with the previous approach that it used in the past, so there are two builds available for download, as follows:

  • Build 22623.885= New features rolling out.
  • Build 22621.885 = New features off by default.

In other words, some users are getting the new features and some aren’t. And as said, there are lots of goodies this time, including the integration of Windows Studio effects in quick settings, energy recommendations in Settings, and further polishing for Widgets.

There are plenty of other fixes included in the new builds, including one that’s aimed at modern applications, as the company says that in some cases, they failed to launch for no clear reason.

On the other hand, as far as the known issues are concerned, Microsoft says there are three big bugs that currently impact the taskbar and the system tray:

  • The taskbar sometimes flashes when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar takes longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • When using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings, the taskbar sometimes stays stuck in the expanded state, instead of dismissing to collapsed state.

The improvements that are part of the Beta channel could actually go live in production builds sooner rather than later, but of course, no information on this front is available right now. Beta builds, however, are pretty stable and reliable overall, but on the other hand, you should just stick with the Release Preview channel if you want to try out new features early without major bugs whatsoever.
