The Surface Pro 3 continues to be Microsoft's flagship tablet, at least until the arrival of the Surface Pro 4, so the Redmond-based tech giant rolls out firmware updates regularly to improve the performance of the device and fix bugs.

Today, Microsoft released a new Surface Pro 3 firmware that brings Surface Pro UEFI update version 3.11.950.0, which according to the official changelog, adds support for new features in Windows 10.

The company doesn't mention what exactly those features are, but since the Surface Pro 3 will be fully upgradeable to Windows 10, and is expected to be one of the devices to benefit from 99 percent of the features bundled into the new operating system, preparing it for the new software is critical.

At the same time, the new firmware also includes Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update version 15.68.3091.193, which should improve the system stability and the Wi-Fi connectivity experience, while also increases network download performance.

And last but not least, it also includes SATA AHCI controller driver update to version 9.4.0.1028 which should stabilize deployment methodology on Surface.

The Surface Pro 4

The Surface Pro 3 successor, called by many the Surface Pro 4, is expected to arrive later this year, but the company does a great job from hiding all details from the press these days.

Nothing certain is known about the Surface Pro 4, but many expect it to continue to be offered as a laptop replacement and come with a screen of at least 12 inches. A digital pen will most likely be offered as well to make drawing and writing easier.

Needless to say, the Surface Pro 4 will be a premium device in all regards, so its price will still be high, most likely in the same region as for the Surface Pro 3. The current top-of-the-range SP3 configuration costs $1,950 (1,500 Euro) with no discounts applied in the United States.
