Microsoft has recently released Microsoft Launcher 4.13 beta for Android, and today the company shipped a new release whose role is to refine the performance as it advances towards a new stable build.

Microsoft Launcher 4.13 brings a bunch of new features, including drag and drop support for widgets to and from the Launcher Feed. The Redmond-based software firm explains that with this update, widgets no longer have card headers when placed in the Feed, so you can easily distinguish them from the rest of the cards.

Additionally, there are updates for the calendar card in the Feed. Launcher 4.13 comes with options to let you add a new event with just a single tap when there are no other events planned for a certain day.

Cortana improvements

In the latest few builds, one of Microsoft’s priorities has been providing parents with more tools to manage children accounts and access information on their activity. Version 4.13 continues this approach, so it includes Cortana improvements that allow parents to simply ask the digital assistant where their kids are at a specific time.

The whole thing can be done by voice, and it just requires a question like “where are my kids?,” with Cortana then providing information on the location of their children.

The digital assistant has also been updated with support for reading incoming SMS messages, while also supporting the en-IN language.

And obviously, there are other tweaks and refinements for the Launcher, with more improvements for the app drawer animation now available in the latest beta.

While beta builds of Microsoft Launcher have until now worked pretty flawlessly, it’s important to keep in mind that this update is part of the beta development stage as well, which means that a number of bugs and issues could still be encountered.
