Microsoft has just released a new firmware update for the Surface Go 2, so if you own the device, you’d better go check for updates in Windows Update and download it right now.

The Surface Go 2 is one of the most affordable Surface models currently on the market, and without a doubt, shipping new firmware updates is critical to keep everything up-to-date and polish the experience even further.

The new firmware update, which is live right now as the June 2022 release, resolves a critical security vulnerability, while also including a series of new drivers, including for the Bluetooth adapter.

These are the new drivers included in this release:

  • Surface - Firmware - 1.0.2.0: Surface UEFI - Firmware
  • Intel - Net - 22.60.0.6: Intel (R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz - Network Adapters
  • Intel Corporation - Bluetooth - 22.60.0.6: Intel (R) Wireless Bluetooth (R) – Bluetooth

Microsoft explains there are no known issues in this update, but it warns that it could take a while until the rollout reaches all eligible devices. This is because the release takes place in stages, as the company uses a phased rollout in an attempt to make sure that no major bug is discovered and affecting a significant number of devices

“Surface updates are released in stages—not every Surface will receive updates at the same time, but they'll be delivered to all devices. If you haven’t previously received updates, you can manually update by following the steps at Download drivers and firmware for Surface,” Microsoft says.

“After the updates have finished installing, it's recommended that you install all available optional updates. To install optional updates, from Search, type View Optional updates and select it under Best match. If updates are available in Driver updates, click through to download to ensure that all Surface drivers listed in the release have been installed.”
