14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has released a new Surface Pro firmware update that brings lots of improvements to the device, including Bluetooth refinements and better Surface Pen accuracy.
Offered to devices running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) and April 2018 Update (version 1803), the new firmware update is available for both the Surface Pro and the Surface Pro with LTE Advanced.
It brings a driver update for Marvell AVASTER Bluetooth radio adapter to version 15.68.9125.57, improving system security, as well as Surface Integration Service Device driver version 4.18.136.0 to improve system stability.
A more important highlight in this new firmware update is an update for the Surface Touch driver to version 1.16.139.0 to improve pen and touch performance, technically addressing the accuracy issues that users have been complaining about for so long.
Surface Pen accuracy improvements
Lag and accuracy glitches on the Surface Pro were among the biggest annoyances reported by users lately, and although it took longer for Microsoft to resolve them, this firmware update should finally correct the issues.
Previously, it was even believed that this might be a hardware issue, as the palm rejection system substantially impacted Surface Pen accuracy and Microsoft itself replaced some units in the Microsoft Store.
And last but not least, there’s a new update for the Surface UEFI to improve driver installation servicing on the Surface Pro, though these are mostly refinements that you wouldn’t normally notice during day-to-day use.
Just like every other firmware update, this new release is available right now from Windows Update, and you are highly recommended to do it as soon as possible, especially if you were hitting the problems mentioned above with the Surface Pen.
As usual, make sure that your device is connected to a power user when updating the firmware, as it could take some time until the process comes to an end.
