Microsoft has released a major update for Microsoft Remote Desktop app for iPhone, bringing it to version 10 after more than one year without any significant pack of improvements.

The Remote Desktop client for iOS now comes with support for the Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service and introduces what Microsoft describes as a “brand-new” Connection Center UI and in-session UI for switching between connected PCs and apps.

When it comes to support for peripherals, the app introduces substantial changes here too, including compatibility with SwiftPoint Bluetooth mice, microphone, camera, and local storage redirection, as well as a new layout for the auxiliary on-screen keyboard.

Of course, Microsoft Remote Desktop for iOS also adds support for the latest iPhones and iPads, so if you recently purchased the iPhone 11 or the iPhone 11 Pro Max, everything should be working correctly. However, keep in mind that your device must be running app version 10 to benefit from full support for the latest Apple products.

iOS 13 required

Since everyone loves dark themes these days, the updated app comes with support for both dark and light themes, and Microsoft says that as an extra, users are also provided with new tools that allow them to control if a phone can lock when it is connect to a remote PC or app.

Microsoft says this is just the very first update in a longer series, with more improvements to see daylight soon.

“It’s been well over a year since we last updated the Remote Desktop Client for iOS. However, we are back in the game with an exciting update, with many more to follow at a regular cadence from here on out. We’re committed to making this app the best Remote Desktop client for iOS and value your feedback,” the company says.

Microsoft’s update app requires iOS 13 or later, so the device must be updated to the latest version of iOS to install it.
