Microsoft has just announced a major update for the official OneDrive app on iPhone, and the biggest changes concern the optimizations for iOS 14, the latest operating system update released by Apple.

This new OneDrive 12.0.2 version is a massive update, and the app now comes with a dedicated widget for iPhones running iOS 14. Microsoft says it has also included two improvements for this widget experience:

“We’ve fixed an issue causing an unexpected dialog to show when you tapped the widget to sign into a personal account. We’ve improved our widget to show even sharper, crisper image previews,” Microsoft explains.

However, there are also improvements for both iOS 13 and iOS 14, including an all-new Home tab.

“We’ve added a new Home tab to help you pick up where you left off, fast. The new Home tab prominently features your Recent view for easy access to your files and an Offline Files section to quickly access and manage files you’ve downloaded for offline access,” Microsoft explains.

The On This Day feature has been moved to the top of the new Home tab.

This update also comes with camera upload refinements, such as better performance and increased speed. There are also bug fixes, as well as a new behavior that allows the OneDrive client to pause the upload if it can’t access all the photos. In this case, the app will display a message and assist you with more information to help deal with it.

The new OneDrive app obviously comes with plenty of improvements and bug fixes under the hood, so you can get it from the App Store on your iPhone to receive all of them. iOS 14 is available on the iPhone 6s and newer, so you’ll need one of these models to get the widget.
