Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 April 2018 Update, bumping OS build number to 17134.137.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4284848 is all about bug fixes, which is definitely a good thing considering the number of issues reported lately by users who upgraded to this OS version. You can check out the full changelog in the box at the end of the article.

First and foremost, it’s worth knowing that Microsoft has finally resolved an issue causing files that were generated by Media Center in a different Windows version to fail to play after installing the Windows 10 April 2018 Update. The software giant says KB4284848 should fix the bug, and deploying the patch should fix this unexpected behavior.

There are also improvements for the Application Monitor, which according to Microsoft stopped working at log off and user settings were not saved. KB4284848 also resolves a glitch in Microsoft Edge that breaks down the browser when it starts the download of a font from a non-RFC compliant URL.

No known issues

Microsoft explains that it corrected two different Remote Desktop bugs as well. As the company states, the update “addresses issues with the Remote Desktop client in which pop-up windows and drop-down menus don't appear and right-clicking doesn't work properly. These issues occur when using remote applications.”

There are no known issues in cumulative update KB4284848, which means that it should install correctly for everyone. However, it remains to be seen how smooth the experience with this cumulative update actually is, as more PCs are now getting the update from Windows Update.

The next batch of cumulative updates for Windows 10 is due on July 10 when Microsoft will also include security improvements to address vulnerabilities in the operating system and other modules. We’ll keep an eye out on reports to monitor possible KB4284848 issues and we’ll update the article with further information should it become available.
