Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 preview build, and given it’s specifically aimed at the Dev channel, it comes with several new features as well.

Microsoft explains it has refreshed the Recycle Bin context menu by adding the new modern design, while also updating the Korean IME with improvements suggested by insiders.

But overall, it’s pretty clear the focus this time has been on polishing Windows 11 even further, especially as we’re getting closer to the public launch of the operating system.

Windows 10 build 22454 therefore includes several important fixes, including one specifically aimed at computers running Windows Defender Application Guard and which previously just kept crashing with a BSOD. Microsoft says these devices should now get the new build as well.

Start and taskbar improvements

Microsoft says it has also added plenty of improvements for the Start menu and the taskbar. So for example, you should notice the Windows Terminal has once again been included in the right-click menu on the Start, while the Narrator should now announce the Start launch more reliably.

As far as the taskbar is concerned, the company reveals it addressed a bunch of minor glitches to improve the overall reliability of the operating system.

“The Desktops flyout should now dismiss properly for Narrator users when scanning with item navigation across the Task View button. Taskbar icons should no longer flicker when you mouse over them while using a contrast theme. The input indicator, Quick Settings, and notification center icon tooltips will no longer display behind the flyouts when they’re open,” Microsoft said.

Keep in mind this build is still an early release, so you could still come across various bugs that haven’t necessarily been acknowledged by Microsoft.

Windows 11 is projected to start rolling out in early October.
