While all eyes are on Windows 11 these days, with Microsoft confirming that the free upgrade rollout would begin in October, the company is also giving the finishing touches to Windows 10 version 21H2, which is also projected to land in the fall of the year.

The ETA, however, hasn’t been disclosed, but in the meantime, Microsoft is also working on giving this Windows 10 feature update the finishing touches to make sure everything is working properly.

This involves rolling out new preview builds to users in the Windows Insider program, and this week, the company has released one such build to those in the Release Preview channel.

The new build that’s now available for download is 19044.1202, and it’s powered by update KB5005101.

According to the official changelog, it includes just a single fix, as Microsoft says it has corrected a problem causing the Windows Update settings page to stop responding after downloading an optional update.

“This update will be offered automatically for Windows Insiders already on Windows 10, version 21H2 in the Release Preview Channel,” Microsoft explains.

Windows 10 to be supported until 2025

“For Insiders not yet on Windows 10, version 21H2 – this update is offered via our “seeker” experience in Windows Update and ONLY to Insiders who were moved from the Beta Channel to the Release Preview Channel because their PC did not meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11. This means these Insiders will need to go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and choose to download and install Windows 10, version 21H2.”

Despite the arrival of Windows 11, Windows 10 will continue to be supported until 2025, and these feature updates breathe new life in the operating system, adding new features and additional polishing to ensure a smooth performance from one end to another.
