The leaked version of Outlook that’s pretty much everywhere across the web right now is huge news for Windows users, as it’s supposed to replace the default mail app that comes bundled with the operating system.

This is why many people out there rushed to install it, so now Microsoft has published a new warning in the admin center to recommend IT admins to block users from accessing the new Outlook.

Without providing an actual ETA as to when the new app could go live, Microsoft says it’ll share additional news on the new Outlook in the coming weeks. There’s a chance an announcement on this front would be offered at Build, at this point, this is just a rumor with no confirmation from Microsoft.

“We are aware that some users can access an unsupported early test version of the new Outlook for Windows. This version is missing some of the features and enhancements that will be available later for our customers in the Beta Channel. We encourage our customers to wait for the beta version to be released,” Microsoft says.

You’d better block the access, Microsoft says

The company goes on to explain that a beta would be released soon, and this is why IT admins should block the access to the new Outlook right now.

“We recognize the need for tenants to control access to apps in their organizations, so we are releasing early the instructions to do so. We expect to provide more news in the coming weeks about our Beta release. If you would like to block your users from connecting their Microsoft 365 accounts associated with your organization to this new app, please follow the PowerShell instructions, When the beta is available, you will need to unblock them using the same instructions,” the company continues.
