Reactions coming to Microsoft’s mobile email client

Microsoft Outlook has been improved a lot lately on both iPhone and Android, and now the Redmond-based software giant is working on adding more functionality in the coming updates.

One of the features the company has already promised is support for reactions, a feature Microsoft first teased at Ignite earlier this year but which didn’t have a release date until now.

According to a new report, Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android will finally be updated with support for reactions in February 2021, so we’re still some three months away from the moment this feature will finally go live.

What are reactions in Microsoft Outlook? It’s pretty easy actually, and if you’ve used Microsoft Teams before, there’s a chance you’re already familiar with this concept.

This feature allows users to react in various ways to the emails they receive, and Microsoft will allow us to use reactions like thumbs up, laugh, heart, celebrate, or shed a tear. These reactions will be available at a one-tap distance, just like they are in Microsoft Teams, so overall, it’ll be super-easy to use them in our email client.

As you probably figured out already, Microsoft Outlook has become a priority for Microsoft on Android and iOS, and it happens for good reason: this app is right now one of the most popular email clients in the App Store and Google Play Store, and Microsoft is fully committed to further improving it in the long term.

Microsoft has even brought a Microsoft Outlook mobile ad to the Windows 10 Mai app, prompting users to download the Android or iPhone client and install it on their devices. This approach has caused some criticism from Windows 10 users around the world, but it shows just how much Microsoft wants everybody to give a try to its mobile app.
