Microsoft announced in late 2020 the Surface Duo would launch in international markets, and now the company has shared more information on this highly anticipated moment.

The Surface Duo is Microsoft’s very own Android device, coming with a dual-screen form factor. Since the launch, it was available exclusively in the United States, but now Microsoft is ready to bring it to Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

And according to the software giant itself, the launch is projected to happen as soon as February 18, so we’re just a week away from the moment the Android device goes on sale in all these countries.

“As a company at the forefront of category creation, Microsoft pioneered the 2-in-1 bringing together the best of tablets and laptops in the Surface Pro. Since then, we’ve launched the Surface Book, Studio, Headphones, Laptop and we’ve redefined the mixed reality category with the Microsoft HoloLens,” the Redmond-based software company explains.

“Now, we’re breaking the mold again with an innovative 360° hinge and dual screens. Surface Duo brings together the power of Microsoft 365 experiences and the full ecosystem of Android mobile apps into one pocket-sized device, with two screens that users can take anywhere. Today, we’re announcing the arrival of Surface Duo in Canada complete with an updated user experience to usher in a new wave of productivity, functionality and creativity,” it added in its Canadian announcement.

Going on sale on February 18

In Germany and France, the Surface Duo will be available from €1549, while in Canada, the base model is projected to go on sale from $1,869. As far as the United Kingdom is concerned, the 128GB will cost £1349.

No other information has been provided on other markets that could get the Surface Duo, but the company is believed to be working on the second-generation model already, with the launch expected to happen either later this year or in 2022 with massive hardware upgrades.
