The promo that provides Samsung Galaxy phone buyers with 100 GB of free storage on Microsoft’s OneDrive could come to an end, according to a recent report.

Back in 2015, Microsoft and Samsung formed a partnership that took many by surprise, at the same time making fans of Windows 10 Mobile really angry.

The two companies agreed to pre-install a series of Microsoft apps on Samsung phones, including here Office apps, OneDrive, Skype, and OneNote. In addition, Microsoft allowed Samsung Galaxy phone buyers to claim 100 GB of free storage in the cloud through a notification that showed up on the handheld shortly after setting it up.

The process was rather simple, and all users had to do was to log in with a Microsoft account in the OneDrive app and then claim the free storage right from their phones.

100 GB of OneDrive storage available with a fee

A report from SamMobile indicates that the campaign might have come to an end on July 25, so anyone trying to get their 100 GB of free storage on OneDrive today might be unable to do so.

No word has been said on this by either company, but we’ve reached out to Microsoft for more information and we’ll update the article and if an answer is offered.

OneDrive currently comes with just 5 GB of free storage for new account, so offering 100 GB to Galaxy users was quite an incentive to start using the service. Apple offers a similar amount of free storage for new accounts, while Google Drive users get 15 GB of storage at no cost when setting up a new account.

Right now, the 100 GB storage plan on OneDrive (and previously offered for free to Galaxy phone buyers) is available for $1.99 per month.
