Report claims Microsoft's working on super-fast charging

Microsoft is projected to launch both the Lumia 940/950 and Lumia 940 XL/950 XL (the company hasn't yet revealed the name of its new flagships, so some believe its 940, while others claim it's 950), and according to a new report, the company is working on some really advanced features that could easily make these devices stand out from the crowd.

Chinese website IThome reveals that Microsoft has developed a super-fast charging system for its new phones that would allow both to jump from 10 percent of battery to 95 percent in just 25 minutes.

That does sound incredible and it would really be a terrific addition to the overhauled Lumia feature lineup, but it's worth mentioning that we should take these figures with a healthy pinch of salt until Microsoft actually confirms them.

Samsung's fast charging system

Right now, Samsung has one of the most effective fast charging systems on the market, and the company's latest 5.2-inch flagship, the Galaxy S6, can be charged from below 10 percent to 50 percent in approximately 30 minutes. In one hour, you should be close to 90 percent.

This means that Microsoft's new system, if it's real, is twice as fast as Samsung's, so chances are that the figures the Chinese website is reporting are not entirely accurate. Microsoft's probably working on a fast charging system, but don't expect such impressive figures.

In terms of specs, the Lumia 950, which is the 5.2-inch model, will come with a battery of 3,000 mAh, and that should be enough to get you through the day. The second version is called Lumia 950 XL and comes with a bigger 5.7-inch screen and a 3,300 mAh.

In the end, it's believed that Microsoft's still working to optimize battery performance, so more data on this will be provided very soon.

In the meantime, remember that this is just a rumor and you shouldn't take anything for granted until Microsoft confirms it.
