With Windows 7 already in the last days of support, Microsoft is working around the clock to convince users to upgrade to Windows 10, and ensuring a smooth transition is a key part of this push.

After announcing it in 2018, Desktop App Assure, a solution that makes the move to Windows 10 a more seamless process, is now globally available in ten different languages.

Desktop App Assure is a new service from Microsoft FastTrack whose purpose is to help customers deal with app compatibility issues.

Microsoft says it has already conducted thorough testing and discovered that only 1 percent of the applications may need additional tweaks when moving to Windows 7 to Windows 10. In other words, 99 percent of the apps should work flawlessly on Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus when coming from Windows 7.

App compatibility debugging at no cost

And thanks to Desktop App Assure, if your apps are among the 1 percent that experience issues, Microsoft will fix them at no additional cost for customers with more than 150 seats, thus trying to make sure the process of moving to Windows 10 goes as smoothly as possible for everyone.

“For those customers who have reached out to our team for assistance, only 0.1 percent of their applications have experienced compatibility issues,” Microsoft explains.

“That said, Microsoft is grounded in the promise of “no app left behind”, which means we are fully committed to ensuring your business-critical apps work on Windows 10 and with Office 365 ProPlus. Our engineers are on standby to find solutions for your applications – even when that requires changes to Microsoft’s products.”

You can find all the details about Desktop App Assure on its official page, and Microsoft encourages customers to get in touch with the company through the FastTrack portal.

Windows 7 support is coming to an end in January 2020, so the time is running out for those who are still running the 2009 operating system.
