Microsoft has just released the very first build of Microsoft Edge Dev of the year, as the company continues the work on polishing the browser on all platforms.

This is also the first build of version 99, and this means that Microsoft Edge 98 will soon be moved to the beta channel, therefore making an important step towards the full release to the production channel.

What’s new in Microsoft Edge Dev build 99.0.1131.3

As for what’s new in this new update, there are several notable additions, including an option to manually set which profile certain websites from edge://settings/profiles/multiProfileSettings.

At the same time, the software giant explains it has added an option in the right-click menu to open links in new Application Guard windows when this feature is enabled, as well as information in the Edge Bar settings page to tell what extensions might prevent the use of Edge Bar in the first place.

There are obviously a ton of other smaller fixes and improvements, with Microsoft resolving an important set of crashes experienced by users on several platforms.

When it comes to known issues, pretty much the same ones are still there, with Microsoft explaining, for instance, that the wobbling effect on trackpads and touchscreens is yet to be resolved.

“Some users are seeing “wobbling” behavior when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touchscreens, where scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to subtly scroll back and forth in the other.  Note that this only affects certain websites and seems to be worse on certain devices.  This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy’s behavior, so if this behavior is undesirable, you can temporarily turn it off,” it says.

Keep in mind that Dev builds are still a work in progress, so you’re not supposed to use them as your daily driver.
