Microsoft Garage keeps launching non-Windows apps

Despite the criticism, Microsoft’s Garage team keeps releasing apps for non-Windows mobile platforms, and this time, it’s Android’s turn to receive such an exclusive goodie.

Kaizala is a new Android application developed by Microsoft, and its purpose is to help you organize your business using a chat-based approach.

Basically, you can track resources, including people, time and money, keep an eye on bills, organize your team, and manage appointments from a chat window, as compared to traditional organizers that require you to create separate entries for each new item.

“Kaizala, a Microsoft Garage Project, helps you get your work done by tracking bills, jobs, location and much more - and, it's as simple as chat. Whether you are on the run, your work keeps you mobile or you work out of an office - stay on top of things that matter the most to you, your team and your business - manage your day-to-day business on chat,” the app description posted in the store reads.

The non-Windows app effort

While it’s good to see Microsoft expanding its app efforts beyond Windows, there’s no doubt that Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile should actually be the company’s top priorities, especially given the fact that its mobile platforms are still suffering from the lack of apps.

The majority of apps released by Microsoft Garage so far are aimed at iOS, Android, or both, while Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile have only rarely received such apps. Clearly, Microsoft should be the main supporter of its mobile platforms and release these apps on Windows phones first and only then on rival platforms, but for some reason, the Garage team seems to be more interested in iOS and Android for the time being.

Hopefully, this strategy will change soon with the arrival of Windows 10 Mobile, where all these efforts to tackle the lack of apps would become essential for the future of the platform.
