A new version of the Android launcher is up for grabs

Microsoft has recently released Microsoft Launcher 6.2 for Android devices after the company has been testing this particular version in its preview program for quite some time.

As you probably know already, Microsoft Launcher is one very popular app on Android devices, and Microsoft itself has put a lot of effort into getting everything right. The app is also powering the Android experience on the Surface Duo, which is Microsoft’s very first device running Google’s operating system.

Microsoft Launcher 6.2 introduces support for landscape mode, which means that you can now rotate your phone from portrait to landscape and the UI should adapt accordingly.

A redesigned feed

The feed is also getting a refresh, and this is actually an update that I truly like.

The feed is useful for a wide variety of reasons, and I use it to make my Android device feel more like an iPhone (I know this sounds terrible for the hardcore Android fanboy, but hear me out on this).

The feed allows me to keep all widgets in one place, and I can scroll up and down to see more information, all grouped in a screen available to the left of the home screen. This is an approach that Apple is using for iPhone widgets in iOS 13, and I think it’s quite an easy and convenient way to stay up to date with the content that’s very important for you.

Microsoft Launcher 6.2 is new from the ground-up, so expect the app to be more battery-friendly and come with performance optimizations even on low-end Android devices. In other words, everything should run smoother after installing the new update, even on smartphones that don’t have the processing power of a Galaxy Note20, for example.

The new launcher version is gradually rolling out to devices across the world as we speak.
