The dark theme now covers the search UI as well

While everybody is talking about Windows 11 these days, Windows 10 continues to be a very popular operating system that Microsoft needs to continue polishing in the short term.

This is because some devices cannot upgrade to Windows 11, and sticking with Windows 10 is pretty much the only option.

Most recently, Microsoft has released a small Windows 10 refinement that should have been there from the very beginning: the dark theme now covers the search UI as well.

Previously, the search panel that users can launch with a click on the taskbar used a light visual mode even when the dark theme was enabled on Windows 10. But as noticed by WL, search is now dark too, so overall, the experience with this visual style is more consistent now.

Windows 10 support until October 2025

Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 until October 2025, so small improvements like the one we’re talking about today are likely to continue coming to the operating system.

This is because not all devices are eligible for the upgrade to Windows 11, so supporting them according to the original calendar is pretty much the only option.

“For customers who are using a PC that won’t upgrade, and who aren’t ready to transition to a new device, Windows 10 is the right choice. We will support Windows 10 through October 14, 2025 and we recently announced that the next feature update to Windows 10 is coming later this year. Whatever you decide, we are committed to supporting you and offering choice in your computing journey,” Microsoft announced.

If your Windows 10 PC can’t handle Windows 11, the only option is to buy a new computer that meets the system requirements. Installing Windows 11 by skipping Microsoft’s restrictions is also possible, though there’s a chance you could end up struggling with various problems on the OS.
