The device could be announced at the MWC show

New images of the next-generation HoloLens have leaked, as the official unveiling is expected to take place as soon as this week at the MWC show in Barcelona.

Rumors of a possible HoloLens 2 have been swirling around for a long time, but Microsoft managed to keep the majority of details secret until now.

And yet, the photos that you see here reveal what’s likely the new HoloLens, which the software giant could unveil at MWC with plenty of improvements.

As we can figure out from these pics, the HoloLens 2 would be specifically aimed at businesses, so consumers who were hoping for a cheaper version may have to wait a little bit longer. On the other hand, the good news is that the new HoloLens would remain untethered and come with smaller dimensions, making it easier to carry around and obviously, more comfortable to wear.

The MWC unveiling of the second-generation HoloLens is likely to focus on businesses as well, despite the show itself also targeting consumers.

No mobile Microsoft products at MWC

However, Microsoft’s appetite for enterprise is obvious, so we expect Azure officials to attend the launch and discuss the improvements that the device would bring to customers.

On the other hand, while Microsoft will attend the MWC show, what you shouldn’t expect is any news on the mobile front. As everyone probably knows already, Microsoft has given up on phones, and Windows 10 Mobile itself is in maintenance mode, so no new devices are expected to be released by the software giant.

While Microsoft is likely to be working on the eagerly-anticipated Surface Andromeda, this product isn’t ready just yet, and people close to the matter said a potential unveiling would only take place later this year. If it does take place, that is, as Microsoft could very well cancel the project altogether if it doesn’t advance as the company expects it to in the coming months.
