Latest preview build coming with a fix for the Action Center

It took way too many months for this to happen, but it’s probably better late than never: Microsoft has resolved a bug in Windows 10 that caused the acrylic effect in the Action Center to load after the opening animation finishes.

In other words, you click the Action Center, its interface launches from the right side of the screen, and only then the acrylic effect is applied, leading to a somewhat unrefined experienced overall.

The first time I complained about this issue was in May 2019 when I wrote that both the Action Center and the Start menu were affected by the exact same issue.

A GIF that I posted in the article linked above shows the bug happening in the Start menu, with the acrylic effect loading after the opening animation finishes.

The issue was only experienced in Windows 10 version 1903, but there’s a chance it existed in older feature updates as well.

Only available in Windows 10 20H1 for now

In the release notes of Windows 10 build 19002 for Fast ring insiders, the company explains that a fix is now available.

“We fixed an issue resulting the acrylic effect in the Action Center only appearing after the Action Center opening animation had finished,” the firm explains in the changelog.

The only problem is that this fix is currently available only for users in the Insider program and running preview builds of the Windows 10 feature update due in the spring of 2020. Microsoft has previously backported some improvements to earlier Windows 10 versions, so hopefully this is what would happen in the case of this fix as well.

The company is projected to release a new feature update for Windows 10 next month. However, the so-called Windows 10 November 2019 Update does not include this fix just yet, albeit Microsoft still has enough time to take care of this by the time the public rollout begins.
