Microsoft Edge is yet to land on other platforms than Windows 10 officially, but on the other hand, unofficially, the browser not only that can run on previous Windows versions, but it can also be installed on Apple’s Mac platform.

The first build of Microsoft Edge for Mac got leaked a few weeks ago, and today, the application receives its very first update.

Needless to say, this is still an unofficial update that was supposed to be used internally and not on users’ devices. However, you can download the updated Microsoft Edge using the links below.

With today’s update, Microsoft Edge for Mac reaches version 76.0.152.0 for the Dev channel and 76.0.161.0 for the Canary.

As for what’s new, there aren’t obviously any release notes, as these builds weren’t supposed to be public in the first place. However, expect Edge to get the same improvements as its Windows 10 sibling, which evolves at a rather fast pace these days.

The migration to Chromium

Microsoft Edge is supposed to be cross-platform thanks to the migration to the Chromium engine, so in addition to Windows 10, it will also run on older Windows and macOS. A Linux version could also be planned, though at the time of writing this article there is no confirmation in this regard.

The only official build is aimed at Windows 10, and it lets testers install the new browser in Canary and Dev builds. Microsoft says that preview builds for older Windows versions and macOS are coming soon too.

At the same time, the software giant is also working on completing development of Microsoft Edge beta for Windows 10, and it is expected to land at a later time this year. Again, no specifics have been provided, but given that work on Microsoft Edge advances quite fast, it shouldn’t take too much before it happens.
