Microsoft has released a new version of Microsoft Edge browser in the Dev channel, and the changelog includes several added features and a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements.

With this update, Microsoft Edge Dev reaches version 80.0.345.0 and introduces support for erasing ink using the eraser side of a pen. Microsoft has been working hard on making ink a key part of the new Microsoft Edge experience, and today’s update pushes this feature a step further, as it enhances the way you interact with the pen in the browser.

This new version also introduces SmartScreen protection from downloading potentially unwanted apps, as well a dark theme for more sections showing up when the browser is managed by Group Policy.

Furthermore, the dark theme is also available on the new tab page displayed to users when the device isn’t connected to the Internet, thus contributing to a more consistence approach overall.

Favorite syncing still off

What’s important to know is that this new release comes with the same favorite synchronization bug as the previous updates, so this feature is still disabled while Microsoft keeps working on a fix.

“Favorites sync is still disabled for most people in order to prevent some crashes and favorites duplication.  However, if you’re currently syncing with Edge mobile, your favorites sync hasn’t been disabled, so if you’re experiencing Edge crashing shortly after startup, it’s likely that your favorites sync is still enabled,” the company explains in the release notes.

You can find the full changelog in the box after the jump.

Today’s release also comes with a bunch of known issues, including sound problems that might be experienced on devices with multiple audio output devices. Microsoft explains that some users might not get any sound from the browser, in which case they can try muting and unmuting the browser or restarting the application altogether.
