If only Microsoft launched such a thing 20 years ago…

Technology comes in incredibly handy these days, not only for things like sending an email and chatting with someone, but also in ways that you wouldn’t necessarily want your kids to be using.

No, not those ways, as what I’m referring to is automated tools to solve math problems, all in a matter of seconds. Because yes, tech can do that and yes, it’s becoming a lot easier to use these days.

Microsoft Edge, for example, is working on adding a match solver in the browser, with the Canary version of the application already offering this little feature to a bunch of users.

How it works

The way it works is incredibly simple. As Reddit user Leopeva64-2 discovered, there’s a new toggle for a feature called Math Solver in the Settings screen.

When you enable it, the toggle adds a new button on the toolbar, allowing you to launch a math solving interface embedded right in the browser.

There are two ways to resolve a math problem at this point. You can either type it manually or simply use a capture tool that allows you to pick the entire equation from a different page loaded in the browser.

The whole thing is super easy to use, but keep in mind Microsoft is currently testing it with a limited number of users, so it’ll take a while until it becomes available for everybody.

In the meantime, there are many other ways to resolve equations, and if the built-in Windows calculator also comes in handy with this. If you didn’t know, the Calculator app has evolved a lot lately, so in addition to basic math problems, it can also perform a series of conversions right within the app, so you no longer need to go to Google for the whole thing.
