A new Insider program appears to be just around the corner

Microsoft’s Insider programs are working like a charm, as they provide users out there with early access to all kinds of new capabilities before they go live for production devices.

The Windows Insider program is living proof that this idea isn’t only a great way to get users involved in the development of the products they use but also an easy method to iron out bugs and make sure the final experience is as stable as possible.

Now it looks like Microsoft is getting ready to launch a new Insider program.

New evidence discovered earlier this week indicates that a Surface Insider program might be planned, with the focus to originally be on the Duo. Surface Duo is Microsoft’s big bet in the Android device market, with the device already at its second generation.

A third Surface Duo is planned for 2023.

As it turns out, Microsoft plans to use an approach similar to the one for Windows, so Surface insiders will be provided with access to multiple channels to try out new features early. At this point, no official announcement from Microsoft exists, but the Insider program would help the company prepare bigger updates for the Surface Duo, as it’s the case of the recently released Android 12L.

The new OS update includes several highly requested capabilities, including improvements that align the Android experience with the one in Windows 11.

“Building a strong connection to Windows starts with aligning visual language for core system components across Windows and Android. With unified iconography, colors and UI controls, the Surface Duo feels familiar, an integral part of the wider Windows ecosystem. The visual alignment culminates in Surface Duo’s ‘Quick Settings’ and ‘System Settings,’ which pave the way for further functional alignment and raise expectations for increased cross-device operability,” Microsoft explained.
