Mobile game possibly in the works at Microsoft

Microsoft is getting ready to push its Forza franchise one step further with the release of a mobile version for Android and iOS.

Possibly called Forza Street, the game was reportedly mentioned in a recent “Week in Review” post on the Forza blog, as noticed by GTPlanet.

Obviously, details are super-sketchy at this point, but a short snippet indeed seems to suggest that what we have here could be Microsoft’s new racing game for mobile devices.

“Developed in partnership with UK-based studio, Electric Square, Forza Street is built from the ground up to support a wide range of Windows 10, iOS, and Android devices.”

All these details align just nicely. Electric Square is the same studio that worked with Microsoft last year on another racing game called Miami Street. This means it already has the know-how to develop a potential mobile version of Forza, though further details are well guarded under the closed doors at Microsoft for now.

Microsoft’s mobile push

Beyond the Xbox brand, bringing a game to Android and iOS also makes sense for Microsoft. Without a mobile platform of its own, Microsoft has invested aggressively in apps and services aimed at these two mobile operating systems, and with a Forza-branded mobile title, the company can thus expand its mobile portfolio even more.

Most likely, we’ll here more about these plans in the coming months, especially if work on this project advances.

But as with every rumor these days, just don’t get your hopes too high on a Forza-branded mobile racing game. Microsoft is known as a company that can easily discontinue products before launch if the leadership team no longer believes they make sense, so until an official confirmation is offered, you can’t do anything else than to keep your fingers crossed for this product to be real.
